The “Arctic Light e-health Conference” (ALEC) 2012 is scheduled for 19–20 June in Luleå, Norrbotten/Sweden. The general motto of the event is “From Policy to Action”.
“The future of our health and social services depends on our actions today”, underlined Agneta Granström, Chairperson of the AER e-He@lth Network and County Councillor, Norrbotten. ”How and why should regions implement e-health policies and tools to shape tomorrow's care?” Some answers will be given at ALEC, a joint initiative of the County Council of Norrbotten, the Assembly of European Regions (AER), and the Regional Telemedicine Forum (RTF). Following the first edition in 2010, the event will again focus on the latest developments in e-health. “This is the only e-health conference addressed directly to the regions”, added Granström. Region decision-makers, policy officers, business and university experts are invited to participate.
Day 1 will focus on strategies and guidelines for prevention and treatment, addressing the increasing number of chronically ill patients. Day 2 will be devoted to interdisciplinary debates about change management, patient empowerment, integrated care, and funding, all of which are key ingredients to shaping the care of the future. In addition, the conference will showcase innovative projects and solutions through exhibitions, demonstrations, and study visits.
